Playing piano after 40
years!
I have not had a piano
nor played it since I was
about 11 years old! The
Lord blessed me with a life
long desire of owning and
playing the piano again,
with the bonus of a white
baby grand piano!
I was surprised that my rusty
fingers quickly began
playing with ease as if they
were greased and oiled!
I began playing my first
piano recital "Fur Elise"
("Album Leaf") that I played
at about 8 or 9 years old.
I also like composing my
own songs of worship that
give God the glory.
Watercolor painting
and playing my piano go
hand in hand for me now,
as my glad heart serves
and soars in worship to
God!
"I'm going to be an artist !," I firmly announced to my parents at 5 years of age
as God had firmly placed it in my heart and directed me each step of the way. I was
saved and "born again" through Jesus Christ at 7 years of age and filled with the gift
of His Spirit at 12.
After graduating from commercial art technical college in 1976, I worked four
years in the publishing department of Jesus People Church in Minneapolis,
designing many materials and the youth department newsletter which included my
cartoon drawings with Bible scripture. God had directed me in a very unique way
and it was there I met my husband, Mike. We have two sons, Brent and Chad who
are now young adults.
For many years following, I worked in advertising agencies and studios for
major retail stores. I was also a freelance graphic artist designing works for other
ministries, churches and businesses, for example, the New Prague Ford Mercury
logo and many others. The GladArt logo you see on this website is another example
of my logo designs. January of 1991, I began publishing a Christian women's
newsletter/magazine called Gleanings. It started out small and continued to grow
bigger during the ten years that it was distributed throughout the United States and
overseas until God suddenly directed me in a totally different direction. Obeying His
call, I packed it all up, notified the staff and subscribers, and began developing
watercolor painting. The archives of Gleanings are now stored in my antique
"Hope of Glory" chest. I had also opened and operated my own gallery in Mound
and then in Maple Plain, Minnesota. My work now is mostly displayed in my home
and on the GladArt website.
Through my work, I strive to bring the message of Jesus Christ and He has
led me through all the stages in my life for that purpose. His writing is on the wall!
